Overview

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to address global challenges like poverty, inequality, and climate change. With the 2030 deadline fast approaching, there is growing urgency to ensure that research aligned with these goals continues to receive support and visibility. However, there is concern that external pressures, such as shifting national policies, funding cuts, and institutional restructuring may be contributing to a deprioritization of SDG-aligned research.

The panel will explore the potential trade-offs involved, including the risk of sidelining other research areas, and reflect on the balance between responding to external pressures and leading change. The conversation will consider the role of librarians, faculty, and funders in advocating for SDG-focused scholarship.

There will be an opportunity to ask the panel questions.
