About the ALPSP international mentorship scheme
Our mentoring scheme connects and supports publishing industry colleagues with a wider network of expertise and skills to help foster development and progression. By facilitating these conversations, we help individuals learn and share experiences with each other. The scheme encourages collaborative learning between the mentor and mentee, where both can benefit from the dialogue, and share knowledge, insights and experiences.
Last year, over 200 people participated in the scheme with a Mentoring Quality Score of 4.55/5, highlighting the value our programme provides.
We are pleased to announce that the ALPSP scheme has been awarded Most Impactful Mentoring Programme 2024 by Mentorloop in recognition of the global and cross-organisational connections we provide, our commitment to inclusivity and our contribution to fostering a culture of mentoring in scholarly publishing.
For those interested in enhancing their mentoring and coaching skills, consider signing up to our virtual training course Mentoring and Coaching Publishing: How to get the most out of it.
Who can apply?
- Mentees must work for an organization that is a member of ALPSP
- Mentors can work for member or non-member companies
- As mentorship is skills based, we do not require mentors to have worked for a particular number of years in scholarly publishing
- Mentees can be at any stage in their career
How does it work?
The next programme will open early in 2025.
To join, you will be asked to complete a registration form in Mentorloop, the bespoke software for this programme. We will then use this information to match you to a mentoring partner and provide access to plenty of supporting materials and guidance from our programme coordinators to help start your mentoring journey. We recommend a meeting frequency of once per month or as agreed with your mentor/mentee. Our scheme is aimed to last between six to nine months, dependent on your goals.
