About the ALPSP international mentorship scheme
Our award-winning mentoring scheme connects colleagues across the publishing industry and provides them with a wider network of expertise and skills to help foster development and progression. The scheme encourages collaborative learning between the mentor and mentee, where both benefit from the shared dialogue and experience. Last year, over 200 people participated in the scheme with a Mentoring Quality Score of 4.55/5, highlighting the value our programme provides.

Who can apply?
- Mentees must work for an organization that is a member of ALPSP
- Mentors can work for member or non-member companies
- As mentorship is skills based, we do not require mentors to have worked for a particular number of years in scholarly publishing
- Mentees can be at any stage in their career
- As a founding member of C4DISC we welcome participants from diverse groups.
How does it work?
The scheme will be open for new applications on 10 February 2025. To join, you will be asked to complete a registration form in Mentorloop, the bespoke software for this programme. The form will be available here from 10 February 2025.
We will use your completed form to match you to a mentoring partner and there will be plenty of supporting materials and guidance from our programme coordinators to help start your mentoring journey. We recommend a meeting frequency of once per month or as agreed with your mentor/mentee.
New for 2025!
Our scheme will be open all year
From 10 February 2025, our scheme will remain open for new applications all year round! However, if you want to be included in the first round of matching, submit your applications by 16 March. Once again we will be using Mentorloop’s smart match algorithm, which proved highly successful last year, for the first set of matches. If you apply after this date, we will do our best to match you to a partner within 4 weeks, and subject to the availability of mentors/ mentees.
Peer-to-peer group mentoring
For further opportunities for collaboration, support, and networking, participants can also opt-in for peer-to-peer mentoring in small groups of up to 10 participants. This is in addition to traditional 1-to-1 mentorship. We recommend peer groups meet virtually once every 8-10 weeks.
