The ALPSP journal is produced quarterly in collaboration with the Society of Scholarly Publishing. It includes peer reviewed research, reviews, industry updates and opinions on all aspects of scholarly communication and publishing. Free Jobs Board service

Members can promote vacancies for free on the ALPSP Jobs Board to reach scholarly publishing audiences. Non-members will be charged a fee of £250 (+VAT where applicable) per vacancy for up to one month.

Mentorship scheme

ALPSP members can apply for free to become a mentee or mentor on our mentorship scheme. The programme connects and supports publishing industry colleagues with a wider network of expertise and skills to help foster development and progression. The scheme encourages collaborative learning between the mentor and mentee, where both can benefit from the dialogue, and share knowledge, insights and experiences.

ALPSP offers employees, who have recently been made redundant from member organizations, free access to our services for one year. This includes our Jobs Board, Learned Publishing journal, Alert newsletter, Policy bulletin, free member webinars, mentorship scheme, early bird and additional discounts on training, member rates for our conference and more.

Discounts for organizations in LIC/LMIC

ALPSP is pleased to offer a discount on training fees and conference tickets to smaller member organizations that are located primarily in low-income and lower-middle-income countries (LIC/LMIC). This is based on staff numbers and is in line with the discount on membership fees. 

As a founding member of C4DISC, ALPSP is committed to its principles and welcomes membership applications from a diverse range of organizations.

Discount on Membership Fees

ALPSP is pleased to offer a discount on Membership Fees based on staff numbers to smaller organizations that are based primarily in Low Income/ Low Middle-Income Countries (LIC/LMIC).*  All applications for membership from scholarly publishing organizations based in Ukraine will be free of charge until December 2025

Discount on ALPSP Conference and Virtual Training Courses

A similar sliding scale discount is available on the ALPSP Conference and virtual training course fees to member organizations that are based primarily in Low Income/Low Middle-Income Countries (LIC/LMIC). This is based on staff numbers and is in line with the discount on membership fees.

How the discount will be applied

An organization will apply for membership in the usual way and select the appropriate subscription band.

If the organization is based primarily in any of the countries within the World Bank listings and has fewer than 30 employees, it may be eligible for a discount. Based on the number of staff, it will qualify for the following discount:

Subscription rates for 2025

Membership rates are based on annual gross revenue before all deductions, other than sales tax that relates to scholarly and professional publishing. Subscriptions are for 12 months – we will forward a renewal notice three months prior to the end date.

Low and Low-Middle Income Country discounts

ALPSP offers significant discounts on membership, the annual conference and virtual training course fees to organizations that are based primarily in Low Income and Low to Middle-Income Countries.* 

If your organization is based primarily in any of the countries within the World Bank listings and has fewer than 30 employees, it may be eligible for a discount. Based on the number of staff, it will qualify for the following discount:

Free Ukraine membership

Scholarly publishing organizations based in Ukraine are eligible to a free 12-month membership of ALPSP throughout 2025.

Guidelines for membership

ALPSP accepts members on the understanding that they adhere to legal and ethical good practice, and will not bring ALPSP into disrepute through their own activities or business practices. All applicants are required to accept the ALPSP Guidelines for membership.

Direct Debit payments

You can now spread membership fee payments throughout the year using Direct Debit via GoCardless. Before each payment is taken, you will be notified. All payments are protected, so you’re guaranteed a refund if a payment is ever taken in error.
