SUPRR (Supporting Ukrainian Publishing Resilience and Recovery) is a new initiative meant to galvanise assistance for Ukrainian publishing now and after the war. It is a call to action and is building a strong transnational community of publishers working together to match needs with resources.

SUPRR’s first report is a short overview that covers book publishing as well as scientific and scholarly journals in Ukraine. The report is intended to inspire anyone who wants to get involved.

SUPRR is forging links with publishing organisations that are supporting the goal of ensuring that a strong, modern and vibrant publishing ecosystem will flourish in Ukraine.

We will be running a high-level strategy roundtable for publishers and potential donors to be held at the Warsaw Bookfair in May. We have already agreed free membership for Ukrainians to ALPSP and will be launching a mentoring programme to commence in May. SUPRR ran a survey on publisher needs in March and is currently working with publishing educators to develop bespoke training programmes for Ukrainian publishers wishing to modernise in line with EU accession requirements.

But this is just the start. It will advocate for more funding for translations and book replacements. If you’d like to hear more about future activities coming please sign up.
