ALPSP Impact and Innovation Awards 2025: Finalists Revealed

ALPSP, the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers, is delighted to confirm the finalists shortlisted for:

  • The ALPSP Impact Award, which recognizes initiatives, projects, campaigns or collaborations demonstrating beneficial impact within scholarly publishing and communications.
  • The ALPSP Award for Innovation in Publishing, which celebrates any new development, product, service, launch or project which is both innovative and of significant value to scholarly communication.

The Impact Award and Innovation in Publishing Award 2025 are sponsored by PA EDitorial.

The ALPSP Impact Award finalists for 2025: 

  • Frontiers for Young Minds: a unique, award winning non-profit project from Frontiers Research Foundation aimed to engage ‘young minds’ in the science peer review process.
  • Atom Grants: a comprehensive AI platform for the academic research enterprise enabling universities and researchers to discover, assess, and manage grant opportunities efficiently.

The ALPSP Award for Innovation in Publishing finalists for 2025: 

  • AI Talks with Bone & Joint: addressing the challenge of the time consuming and research-intensive process of creating audio versions of academic papers.
  • Thoth Open Metadata: revolutionises Open Access (OA) publishing by providing innovative and fully open metadata management, distribution and hosting solutions and services.
  • Embedding Transparency & Reproducibility in Science: A Scalable Partnership to Support Research Excellence and Data Sharing Policies: delivers an AI-powered editorial screening solution focused on advancing research excellence and integrity through data sharing checks.
  • Alchemist Review: uses frontier AI to instantly extract and assess manuscript quality through deep textual analysis, contextual citation validation, and interactive support

David Sommer, Chair of the judging panel, and co-founder at Kudos commented: 

The judges are always excited to review the range of innovative and impactful submissions we receive. This year’s finalists demonstrated some really interesting and breakthrough ideas. I know our finalists are excited to showcase these at the conference in September, and we offer our congratulations to all the finalists.

The ALPSP Annual Conference and Awards will be held at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate, UK from 10-12 September 2025. All the finalists will be showcased on Wednesday 10 September at the conference with the winners announced at the dinner on Thursday 11 September.
