67 Bricks is delighted to announce a new partnership with University of Michigan Press. The partnership with its first US-based university press customer sees 67 Bricks broadening its client list, which already includes some of the most respected names in academic publishing across UK and Europe.

University of Michigan Press produces over 100 new titles each year in the humanities and social sciences. Titles have earned numerous awards, including Lambda Literary Awards, the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Joe A. Callaway Award and the press has published works by authors who have been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, the National Humanities Medal and the Nobel Prize in Economics.

The team’s initial aim is to enable University of Michigan Press to reinvent the search and browse of its own ebook collection, University of Michigan Press Ebook Collection (UMP EBC), and two other important collections hosted on the open-source Fulcrum platform: The American Council of Learned Societies Humanities E-Book Collection (ACLS HEB) and The British Archaeological Reports BAR Digital Collection (eBAR).

67 Bricks’ approach will focus on defining the right technical approach to meet user needs and building a solution to solve the current search problems. 67 Bricks’ head of client services David Leeming said: “Users will get richer, more detailed search results and the organisation will have the technical capabilities in place should they want to flex to meet future user needs.”

David added: “Winning our first university press client in the US is a real milestone for us.  University presses are under a huge amount of pressure to digitise and improve and COVID-19 has only accelerated the need to deliver improved user experiences and new products and services. It is a vote of confidence that this storied US press concluded that we are the experts who can help them achieve this.”

In partnership with our authors and series editors, we publish in a wide range of humanities and social science disciplines. We champion the Library's research and scholarly communication missions through our global digital and print publishing and distribution programs.

Together with our authors, we also play a critical role in the teaching and learning mission of the University by applying new pedagogies to the development of instructional materials that promote college success for students.
