Jisc is working in collaboration with publishers to make digital archival collections of primary source materials more affordable so researchers, teachers and learners can enjoy access to a wider range of resources and libraries can achieve further efficiencies. We are currently running phase two of the Digital Archival collections group purchasing pilot from November 2017 to July 2018 with 4 publishers, to be followed by a framework agreement that will open up the buying model to a wider selection of publishers. https://www.jisc.ac.uk/rd/projects/digital-archival-collections-group-purchasing-pilot
The group purchasing model operates on two principles:
- The more products collectively purchased from a publisher, the more institutions equally benefit from discounts off list prices no matter what Jisc band they belong to (for example, if a band 1 and band 7 institutions made a purchase, they would receive the same % discount off the list price)
- The purchasing model runs on a yearly basis, allowing institutions to benefit from the maximum discount reached by the end of each academic year
We are hoping to launch four digital archival collections within the next few weeks, any publishers interested in the forthcoming procurement can register their interest through the recently launched PIN notice available on TED (tenders electronic daily) http://ted.europa.eu/TED/notice/udl?uri=TED:NOTICE:191556-2018:TEXT:EN:HTML
Any expressions of interest should be registered through TED by the end of May 2018
