About our training
ALPSP training is devised and delivered by publishers for publishers and has a broad selection of topics to choose from. All courses are proposed and directed by the ALPSP Training Committee to help organizations develop skilled, informed and motivated staff who are better able to deal with the rapidly changing landscape of scholarly and professional publishing.

We can run the majority of our courses in-house and tailored to your needs. See our list of (2025) events. Most courses are repeated (and updated) year on year, with new courses added where relevant to our virtual programme.
As ALPSP has expanded globally, we have recognised a need to make more of our courses accesible to those across multiple time zones. This has led to the development of our new On-Demand initiative- training courses available wherever and whenever you need them. Designed to complement the virtual training programme, our On-Demand training allows complete flexibility and accessibility.
How our training works
Our virtual courses are delivered via Zoom and are suitable across different organization sizes and disciplines; our on-demand courses are hosted within the Thinkific platform and are available anytime to complete at your own pace.
Virtual Training features:
- Expert publisher tutors with up-to-date knowledge and industry experience
- Small group sizes (of around 20) for a hands-on, practical experience, with time for networking
- Pre-course questionnaires to ensure all content is tailored to delegate needs
- Relevant material that reflect current trends, with programmes monitored by our expert Training Committee
- Use of case studies and virtual breakout groups
- Comprehensive course material and further reading

- Interactive activities, quizzes, and takeaway reflection tasks
- Six months of access to each course, to allow you to revist the content whenever you may need it
- Completion certificates upon finishing every module of the course

Member discounts
Significant discounts and early bird rates for courses are available for all ALPSP members.
ALPSP is pleased to offer a discount on training fees to member organizations that are located primarily in low-income and lower-middle-income countries (LIC/LMIC). This is based on staff numbers and is in line with the discount on membership fees.
