Sam Irvine

Sam is the CEO of Copyright Licensing New Zealand (CLNZ) and CEO of Resale Royalties Aotearoa(RRA). CLNZ is the sole, recognised Reproduction Rights Organisation (RRO) in New Zealand for text-based copyright material and a member of the global body, the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO). Since 1988 CLNZ has played a key role in making creative rights valuable assets for all New Zealanders, be they rightsholders (like authors, publishers and artists), or users such as educators and students. And RRA has been appointed the CMO, by the New Zealand Government, to manage the launch and operation of artist resale royalty in New Zealand. The scheme launches in New Zealand on December 1st 2024.

Sam was appointed CEO of CLNZ in 2022 and prior to this, worked in the communications and media sector, including in senior positions at Freeview New Zealand Ltd, New Zealand’s free-to-air digital television and radio platform.
