What you need to know!
From 1 January 2024, long-form publications are subject to the requirements of the UKRI open access policy. Open access has the potential to help address challenges of equality, diversity and inclusion through increasing access to research. By extending their open access requirements to monographs, book chapters and edited collections, UKRI are seeking increased access to, and impact from, all outputs arising from publicly funded research.
Jisc recently contacted the top 20 publishers where UKRI funded researchers have published (according to ResearchFish data 2017-2021) to explain the core requirements of the policy, how UKRI will support open access publication costs, and the actions publishers can take to help UKRI funded authors hoping to publish with them.
In addition, the UKRI have created a slide deck which outlines sector requirements for open access monograph agreements. Please share with your networks.
If you have any questions about the policy and compliance, please contact help.digitalresources@jisc.ac.uk.
