London, UK – 25th March 2025, Premier Science Ltd integrates the Problematic Paper Screener (PPS) into its eWorkflow submission system. The Problematic Paper Screener was established in 2021 by Cabanac et al, working at the Computer Science Department of the University of Toulouse.1 By looking for tortured phrases and generative AI as “fingerprints”, the tool can identify nonsensical computer-generated articles. Premier Science worked with Prof. Cabanac to integrate the PPS into Eworkflow’s submission system and now scans for over 8,000 “fingerprints”.
Dr Riaz Agha, Publishing Director at Premier Science, who led the integration commented; we are grateful to Professor Cabanac and his colleagues for sharing their deep expertise in this area with us. This integration adds to the suite of research integrity tools already integrated with eWorkflow. This will ensure more thorough screening and empower our Editors to reject poor-quality and unauthentic scholarly contributions from our publishing ecosystem. The tool has already passed its pilot phase and is making an excellent contribution.
