Publishers to "save time and maximise revenues" from in-bound permissions requests

PLS will be officially launching an enhanced suite of permissions management services at this years’ Frankfurt Book Fair.

Many publishers waste time and lose revenues because their processes for managing requests to reuse content are inefficient. For example, they are often manual rather than automated, and ad hoc rather than based on pricing policies to maximise value.

Licence fees can also be lost because responses to requests are often too slow. Research shows that many requestors regard the process as “too difficult” and either abandon requests or use content without permission.

With PLS's enhanced Permissions Management services, publishers can benefit from:

  • Outsourcing – Delegate all your permissions admin to PLS’s specialist permissions team. They will manage requests on your behalf and you will no longer have the burden managing requests yourself
  • Digital tools – Use the PLSclear permissions tool to automate responses to all of your free-of-charge requests and manage requests more efficiently
  • Practical one day workshops – Help staff develop expertise to maximise returns from permissions management

"Through our permissions management services, we can help publishers to generate more revenue and reduce operating costs, so that they can focus on core activities such as sales and editorial,” said Jonathan Griffin, Head of Digital Services at PLS.

“We're delighted to be working with publishers of all sizes from sectors including academic, education, society, magazine and trade. We are also looking forward to being able to offer publishers the option to automate paid-for licences in spring 2017."
