This partnership will assist the research community, advance the subject of molecular bioscience, and support the charitable activities of the Biochemical Society.
Portland Press publishes more than 1,000 articles in its seven journals each year. Of these, two journals are fully open access (OA) and the other five are hybrid OA titles. Building on its 15% growth in volume of articles published across the portfolio since 2015, Portland Press will continue to expand its offerings and build new products using the Silverchair Platform’s tools and advanced capabilities.
The migration will bring a modern user experience, enhanced discoverability and product flexibility to Portland Press’ content, including 100,000+ journal articles dating from 1906 as well as ‘The Biochemist’ magazine.
“Portland Press’ journals will be improved by Silverchair’s flexible user interfaces and state of the art functionality,” said Thane Kerner, Silverchair CEO. “Going forward, Portland Press will profit from the continuous development of the Silverchair Platform, offering cost efficiencies alongside opportunities in productization that meet its needs and ambitions.”
“We look forward to joining the Silverchair Platform and benefitting from Silverchair’s proven customer-support capabilities, responsiveness, collaboration, and accountability during our partnership,” said Professor Richard Reece, Chair of the Board of Directors of Portland Press Limited. “Portland Press and Silverchair are fully aligned in our proactive support of the needs of the research community, and we are pleased to be working with such a forward-thinking organization.”
