Glen Allen, VA—October 8, 2026—The Microbiology Society has selected KGL PubFactory, the online hosting division of KnowledgeWorks Global Ltd. (KGL), as the new digital publishing platform and host for its portfolio of eight titles.
The Microbiology Society is a membership charity which brings together a global community of scientists working to advance the understanding and impact of microbiology. Through its not-for-profit publishing program, the Society disseminates high-quality research, supports the exchange of knowledge and helps connect and empower microbiology communities worldwide.
The partnership marks an important step for Micriobiology Society publishing, providing a flexible and future-ready platform designed to enhance the experience for authors, readers, librarians and members. By moving its eight titles to KGL PubFactory, the Society will benefit from a highly configurable publishing environment designed to strengthen content discovery and engagement while reducing the day-to-day administrative and technical demands associated with managing its publishing platform.
“Throughout the selection process, we were particularly impressed by the responsiveness of the KGL PubFactory team and their willingness to really listen to what we need from both a platform and a long-term partner,” said Joe Kelly, Publishing Operations Lead at the Microbiology Society. “The combination of a flexible platform and an experienced, accessible team gave us confidence that we will have a partner who can work closely with us as our publishing program continues to evolve.”
“We are delighted to welcome the Microbiology Society to the KGL PubFactory community,” said José Fossi, Vice President of Hosting Operations, KGL PubFactory. “Our goal is to make the technology and day-to-day operation of the platform as smooth and efficient as possible for the Society. By reducing the administrative and technical burden on their team, we can help free up valuable resources to focus on strategic initiatives, supporting their community and maximizing the reach and impact of the important research they publish.”
The transition to KGL PubFactory will be carefully managed by dedicated implementation, migration and Customer Success teams to ensure continuity and a smooth migration from the Society's current platform. Following launch, the Society will continue to work closely with its dedicated PubFactory team, supported by ongoing platform development and access to KGL's wider publishing expertise.
