The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Dormer as the new Editor-in-Chief of Learned Publishing, the official journal of ALPSP.
Laura began her career in publishing in 2003 as a Commissioning Editor at the STM publisher Future Science Group (FSG) and has since worked in various roles, becoming Editorial Director at FSG in 2015. She is now embarking on a new venture as Editorial Director and Co-Founder of Becaris Publishing. Laura has developed expertise in journal development and publication ethics and has been the Launch Editor of numerous journals, including the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research, which, over the past 10 years, has led to her particular interest in the fields of health policy, health economics and outcomes research. In recent years, she has dedicated her time to projects relating to her key areas of interest, including publication ethics, patient engagement and plain language content.
Laura will be taking the reins at Learned Publishing from November, taking over from current Editor-in-Chief Pippa Smart.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with the wonderful team at ALPSP to continue the great work Pippa has done to make Learned Publishing the successful journal it is,” commented Laura. “As a current member of the journal’s Editorial Board, I have seen first-hand how well the team works, and I look forward to taking the journal forward and continuing to support the publishing community it serves.”
