10 August 2021
On 1 September 2021, the ISNI International Agency will be holding its first-ever international event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI). This event will be open to all organisations and industries currently using the ISNI standard including the publishing, libraries, music and rights management sectors.
ISNIs help to identify the millions of contributors to creative works and those active in their distribution; including researchers, inventors, writers, authors, artists, visual creators, performers, producers, publishers, aggregators, and more. ISNIs can also act as linking or bridge identifiers in cases where several identification schemas exist.
Our mission is to assign to the public name(s) or persona(s) of individuals a persistent unique identifying number in order to resolve the problem of name ambiguity in search and discovery; and to diffuse each assigned ISNI across all repertoires in the global supply chain so that every published work can be unambiguously attributed to its creator(s) wherever that work is described.
