Guidance on how to input on potential UK tariff measures in response to US tariffs

The UK Department for Business & Trade has shared guidance on how to respond to their request for input on potential UK tariff measures in response to US tariffs.

The government is working to reach a negotiated solution with the US that promotes mutually beneficial trade between our two economies, but it has also been clear it will always act in the national interest and is considering measures it could take in response to the US tariffs. This includes potential tariff measures on US goods, should this be deemed necessary. The government is publishing a short Request for Input to take the views of business and other stakeholders on the impacts that any future UK response might have, to assist in its assessment of its options.

They are eager for input on the impacts that any future UK tariffs might have, if applied on US goods, in response to the US government’s recent tariff announcements. Any information gathered will help the government to assess the scope and impacts of any UK tariff measures that could be applied.

The request closes on May 1st.
