American Physiological Society Publications Go Live on River Valley’s ReView Submission and Peer Review Platform

American Physiological Society (APS) journals are now live on ReView, RVT’s submission and peer review platform, following a migration from two legacy editorial systems.

The system went live in early June, just months after contract signing in February. The implementation moved APS journals from previous systems into a modern environment on ReView, bringing together multiple workflows, years of historical data, MECA-enabled article transfer, integrated research integrity checks and connections with APS billing and subscription systems.

The move gives APS a unified platform for submission, peer review, research integrity checks, reporting and downstream workflows, supporting a more connected and transparent publishing workflow across its journal portfolio.

A key part of the implementation has been the migration of APS’s historical data from two legacy systems. RVT migrated user data, metadata and workflow history into ReView, helping APS retain access to legacy data within a more consistent, enhanced and reportable editorial environment.

ReView also supports MECA-based article transfer, enabling smoother movement of manuscript files and metadata between systems. This strengthens interoperability across APS journals. The implementation supports APS’s complex publishing models, including Subscribe to Open (S2O), Gold Open Access, Diamond Open Access, and Hybrid workflows. Integration with the APS ecosystem helps connect editorial workflows with the business and access requirements that sit around publication, improving data flow, reducing manual intervention and supporting accurate reporting.

APS is also using RVT’s integrated research integrity functionality, RVRi dashboard, which is embedded within the editorial workflow. RVRi helps editorial teams surface potential integrity concerns earlier, with checks and reporting designed to support editorial judgement, transparency and consistent assessment.
