Silverchair and University of California Press Announce Next Generation Platform for UC Press’s Diverse Journal Portfolio

(Charlottesville, VA and Oakland, CA) July 16, 2019 – Silverchair announced today that University of California Press (UC Press) has selected the Silverchair Platform for its journals hosting solution.  As one of the six largest university presses in the United States, and the only one associated with a public institution, UC Press strives to drive progressive change by seeking out and cultivating the brightest minds and giving them a voice, reach, and impact.

UC Press publishes a core list of high-impact journals across the humanities and social sciences, including Journal of the American Musicological Society, Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians, The Public Historian, and Case Studies in the Environment, as well as a growing stable of open-access journals including Collabra: Psychology, Civic Sociology, and Elementa: Science of the Anthropocene.

“UC Press’s legacy of innovation, leveraging technology to benefit their author and reader communities, and publishing defining content makes them an ideal partner for Silverchair,” said Thane Kerner, Silverchair CEO. “We’re excited to have them join the growing community of premier university presses using our platform, including Duke University Press, MIT Press, Oxford University Press, and Rockefeller University Press. Enabling these presses to better disseminate high-impact scholarship is at the heart of Silverchair’s mission.”

“We are excited to bring our journals to the Silverchair platform," notes Erich van Rijn, UC Press’s Director of Journals & Open Access. “After thoroughly reviewing our options, it was clear to our entire team that Silverchair would provide excellent support for our publishing program both now and into the future.”
