Shortlisted entries represent unique innovation, collaboration, and leadership throughout the NHS.

More than 70 healthcare teams have made it to the final judging stages for The BMJ Awards 2018.

Now in its 10th year, The BMJ Awards are the UK’s premier medical awards programme, recognising and celebrating the inspirational work done by doctors and their teams across the UK.

They include campaigns against bullying in the workplace, a project to get older hospital patients to “Sit Up, Get Dressed, and Keep Moving” and a team who developed the UK’s only facility for storing ovarian and testicular tissue from young people at risk of infertility.

Organised by The BMJ, one of the world’s top medical journals, the awards reflect our mission to improve patient outcomes and showcase the very best healthcare in the UK.

This year’s awards attracted 250 entries across 15 categories, including cancer care, diagnostics, emergency care, and mental health.

The shortlisted teams will gather in London on 10 May for a morning’s judging followed by “Excellence in Healthcare,” an afternoon programme with speakers including Bruce Keogh, former medical director of NHS England.

The day will conclude with a glittering awards evening at the Park Plaza Westminster Hotel in London.

The principal sponsor of The BMJ Awards 2018 is MDDUS (Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland). Category sponsors include the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Alliance Medical, MacMillan Cancer Support, the General Medical Council and the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, Leo Pharma, TopDoctors and Hospice UK.
