I began volunteering with ALPSP in September 2024 as a member of the Policy Committee, where I now serve as co-vice chair. Since then, I’ve worked with a fantastic team on a range of interesting projects. Volunteering has also helped me stay connected with developments across the publishing industry beyond my day-to-day role, which has been hugely valuable.
Being part of an ALPSP committee has given me a valuable space to share experiences, learn from others, and feel part of a supportive community. That sense of connection was especially important during a period of change, and the ongoing support of the ALPSP community was invaluable.
I am also both a mentor and mentee in the ALPSP mentorship scheme, which has been another rewarding way to learn and connect with people I might not otherwise have met. The chance to give back, share my experience, and support the next generation of publishing professionals has been especially rewarding.
I would strongly recommend volunteering for an ALPSP committee. It is a wonderful way to meet inspiring people, expand your network, learn a great deal, and become part of a wider community.
