Publishers' Licensing Services
Publishers' Licensing Services’ (PLS) mission is to provide efficient and effective copyright and licensing services to support publishers in providing access to their content. A not-for-profit organisation, PLS has been serving the collective interests of publishers since 1981 and has distributed almost £42m to publishers from collective licensing in 2022/23. It is owned and governed by four publisher trade associations including ALPSP.
PLS provides a range of rights management services and resources, including:
- PLS Account Manager – a free online account management service for publishers signed up to PLS
- PLSclear – an online permissions service
- Access to Research – providing free access to academic research to public library users
- Rights & Licensing Hub – a resource supporting best practice in rights management.
