Andrew Barker
Andrew Barker has been Library Director at Lancaster University since September 2019. Prior to that, he held a number of senior roles within a wide range of UK universities.
At Lancaster, Andrew has worked to ensure that Lancaster plays a significant role within the open scholarship ecosystem, working with colleagues to develop a range of open research initiatives, working in partnership with academics, publishers, the N8 and other university consortia.
Throughout his career in Higher Education, Andrew has worked visibly and actively across the sector. Andrew was chair of UKSG between 2018 and 2022 and co-chair of SCONUL between 2022 and 2025 and is delighted to now chair the OIPA advisory board.
