This course equips participants with crucial practical knowledge and skills essential for effective mentoring and coaching within the scholarly publishing industry. You will gain insights into how to set clear goals, give and receive feedback, and define areas of expertise. By combining theoretical foundations with hands-on practice, the course offers tools and techniques that are valuable not only for mentoring but also for strengthening managerial capabilities. Mentorship programs offer significant advantages—not just for individuals, but for organizations as a whole.
According to the Springtide Research Institute, 86 percent of Generation Z workers seek mentor-type relationships, yet only 38 percent currently have them. Randstad highlights that employees in mentorship programs are 49 percent less likely to leave, saving companies $3,000 per worker in turnover costs. Additionally, mentorship fosters organizational continuity, particularly when aimed at new employees, and can also drive growth through reverse-mentoring setups.

Testimonials
It's been a really enjoyable, informative and interesting course. The main takeaway for me is the framework for structuring mentoring programmes. I'll definitely be applying this whenever I next become a mentor." Emily Packer, eLife Sciences Publications Ltd
I think it has struck the right balance of practical theory, informal discussions and role play. I enjoyed learning about the 5 Whys, the GROW method of mentoring and also the emotional intelligence exercise’ Charlotte Mason, Edinburgh University Press
“The role playing was very instructive, particularly when performed by the hosts, with input from the group.” Lucie Senn Nura, Frontiers Media SA
