Overview

This Special Interest Group focuses on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in scholarly publishing. Generative AI is a strong force for change that we should understand, develop, and apply appropriately. The explosion of generative AI has important implications for academic publishing across all levels.

As well as the issues related to authorship, AI presents wide opportunities for application within publishers for process optimization, automation, and quality control. There are also important implications for staff recruitment, training, and operations to ensure effective and correct use of AI.

The group discusses the regulatory and legal issues around AI, including detection, disclosure, copyright and plagiarism.

This SIG provides a platform for participants to share:

  • Understanding of AI and its use cases
  • Experiences and case studies
