British Society for Rheumatology
Francesca Lake is the Head of Publishing at the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR), with nearly 15 years of experience in scholarly and professional publishing. She has a strong track record in strategy and supporting innovation and sustainability through her current role in society publishing, as well as her prior roles at a commercial STM publisher.
Currently, Francesca is responsible for driving growth and influence of multiple strands of the organisation that represent the evidence to impact pipeline in healthcare. This includes leading on strategic development to maintain BSR’s journals as sustainable revenue generators, funding its charitable goals whilst serving to improve treatment across rheumatology. Additionally, she leads the organisation’s treatment guideline and patient registers teams.
Francesca brings expertise in financial oversight, stakeholder collaboration, and governance, as well as a track record in supporting efforts in DE&I, sustainability and early career development.
Currently a member of the ALPSP Training Committee, as a candidate for Non-Executive Director at ALPSP Francesca is keen to further support the organisation’s role as a trusted voice for the community. She is particularly interested in strengthening member engagement, navigating the various challenges facing the industry, and ensuring that ALPSP continues to champion innovation and collaboration across scholarly publishing.
