Christopher Smith

Day One Opening Keynote

Professor Christopher Smith is the Executive Chair of the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and International Champion for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). A Professor of Ancient History at the University of St Andrews since 2002, he previously served as Vice-Principal and Director of the British School at Rome (2009–2017). He has authored or edited over 20 books and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Member of Academia Europaea
