Principal
Bill Kasdorf is Principal of Kasdorf & Associates, LLC, a publishing consultancy focusing on editorial and production workflows and technologies, information infrastructure, and standards and best practices alignment to future proof content and systems. Accessibility has become an aspect of almost every engagement; some are purely accessibility evaluations and recommendations, especially for EAA and ADA Title II compliance.
Bill is a founding partner of Publishing Technology Partners. Past President of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), Bill is a recipient of SSP’s Distinguished Service Award, the magazine industry’s Luminaire Award, the Book Industry Study Group’s Industry Champion Award, and NISO’s Cunningham Award for his longtime service to publishing. He is the originator, convenor, and ongoing facilitator of The Rosenblum Award for Scholarly Publishing Impact, the first-ever joint initiative of the five leading scholarly and STM publishing organizations: ALPSP, AUPresses, NISO, SSP, and STM.
Active in many standards initiatives, Bill is the W3C Publishing Evangelist and serves on the Steering Committee of the W3C’s Publishing@W3C Activity. He is a member of NISO, currently co-chairing NISO’s ARM (Accessibility Remediation Metadata) Working Group and is a past co-chair of two other NISO Working Groups. He is a member of the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), with a special focus on accessibility and EPUB implementation, serving on BISG’s Workflow Committee and its Accessibility and Metadata working groups. He’s a member of the DAISY Consortium for accessibility, and he recently joined STM, the International Association of Scientific, Technical, and Medical Publishers.
