Andréa Carvalho Vieira

Andrea has a Ph.D. in Science Education from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Analyst in Science and Technology at the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES). Since 2020 coordinates the CAPES Portal of Journals, the largest scientific collection in Latin America. This platform annually mobilizes around US $100 million and serves an audience of over 6 million people in 436 higher education institutions in Brazil. Her research focuses on Scholarly output, Open Access, and Internationalization Processes. She leads CAPES' initiative in structuring a framework for scholarly communication and knowledge dissemination produced by Brazilian higher education institutions through Open Access, thus strengthening open science and unrestricted access to knowledge.
