Frontiers Media SA

I am dedicated to the work of the Education Committee: I have worked closely with Miranda Ashby-Wood (outgoing Chair), as part of the Education Committee over the past 2 years, and been very inspired by her leadership and example. I've led a very successful in-person seminar for ALPSP in Oct 2025 and am co-organising 2 more for this year already. I would be proud to chair the Committee with an aim to ensure growing engagement in the publishing community.

I'm an academic publishing professional with 20 years’ experience across respected international presses. Now working as part of the Frontiers Research Foundation (the non-profit arm of Frontiers), I strategically direct the unique science-engagement project, Frontiers for Young Minds (FYM - kids.frontiersin.org).

A huge part of the active skills in my current role are those of engagement and communication: I'm a regular speaker at academic and education conferences, both international and virtual. For FYM, I have driven multiple award wins - most proudly, the ALPSP Impact Award 2025 - and given talks at conferences in 10 countries. I lead many live events, from a panel session at COP16 in Riyadh, to running kids’ workshops at New Scientist Live, UK. I would be glad to bring this expertise to engage greater audiences for the trainings and in-person sessions offered by the Education Committee.

I am an active advocate for open education generally as well as for FYM, including interviewing for The Times, BBC Radio 5, and The Washington Post, and guest-blogging on the World Economic Forum Agenda and the EU Science-Media Hub, amongst many others.

I have always had a drive for education within our industry: I hold MA and MPhil degrees from Cambridge University, and after graduating, I was a Careers Mentor for their final-year students. Alongside my editorial roles in publishing, I have developed professional qualifications in training and mentoring. I am an ALPSP Certified Mentor (in my 3rd year mentoring in the Mentorloop program) and an experienced trainer and training creator, currently leading courses in-house on the basics of the publishing industry, impactful communications, and conference attendance.
