PLS Generative AI Training Licensing: Online Briefing

Publishers’ Licensing Services (PLS) is consulting with publishers on a new licensing scheme to allow training of Generative AI (GenAI) models. The proposed licensing, developed by the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) in close collaboration with PLS and other CLA members, will allow training of GenAI models and tools, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), as well as the fine-tuning or further training of GenAI tools on a specific set of content.

As part of this process, PLS will be providing an online briefing for ALPSP members to talk through the proposal and invite feedback on the consultation paper via their survey.
