Job Summary:

The Account Manager is responsible for all aspects of account management and customer service for the journal site licenses with global academic/government/corporate institutions, from negotiations to managing the agent relationships to contract management and administration.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and lead the plans to meet or exceed the budgeted renewal goals for the existing business.
  • Oversee all workflow/processes associated with managing existing accounts and new business.
  • Utilize and maintain the CRM database to ensure accurate and complete customer data.
  • Serve as the Sales group lead on initiatives relating to the CRM.
  • Handle and respond to customer queries in timely manner.
  • Develop positive customer relationships.
  • Own and manage relationship with all agents, ensuring delivery of customer lists to agents and payment collection from agents.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff to develop and execute retention campaigns.
  • Analyze customer and Publications marketing data and identify/develop upsell opportunities.
  • Manage all aspects of contracts/addenda.
  • Produce and maintain sales reports, as well as information relating to status of accounts and any analysis for internal review.
  • Work with journal hosting vendor to ensure seamless uploading of subscriber files, access to the journal content, and accurate and timely reporting.
  • Perform the essential functions of the position and other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant Director, Sales & Outreach, and Director, Journal Sales & Marketing.

Reports to:  Assistant Director, Institutional Sales & Outreach

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in account management in a publishing environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Flexible work style.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

Technical Competencies & Special Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of CRM systems. Knowledge and experience with Salesforce is preferred.
  • Proficieny in MS Excel especially important: creating reports, extracting data, and generating financial reports.
  • General use of MicroSoft Applications.
  • Knowledge of STM publishing market preferred.
  • Problem solving attitude.
