ALPSP Annual General Meetings

Annual General Meetings of the General Assembly of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers are scheduled to be held during the September ALPSP Conference.  

The Annual General Meeting is open to the named representative (also known as the 'main member contact') of all Full and Associate Members of ALPSP. Only representatives of Full Members are eligible to vote.

The 2021 AGM will be held on Wednesday 15 September online.  Please visit the ALPSP Conference page for details and to register.  The AGM is open to ALPSP members only and is free to attend.

ALPSP members may view AGM papers and the Memorandum, Articles and Byelaws (you will need to login for access).

ALPSP Council

At the end of 2021, we shall have two vacancies for ordinary members.  Nominations will be invited for these positions. An Ordinary Member must be from a Full Member organization and will also serve as a Director of ALPSP with legal responsibilities. Anyone working at a full member organization is eligible for nomination. We welcome nominations from all full member organizations, whether partner-publishing or self-publishing.

The term of office is 3 years, with the option for a further 3 years by re-election. The new term of office would begin on 1 January 2022.

ALPSP Council is responsible for determining the policy of the Association and comprises

  • Ordinary Members (from Full Members, elected by Full Members)
  • Chairs of relevant ALPSP Committees (from either Full or Associate Members)
  • Co-opted members (from either Full or Associate Members)
  • The Editor-in-Chief of Learned Publishing

Procedure and timetable for elections

Should the number of nominations received, including those made by Council (which will not be announced until after the nominations deadline), exceed the number of vacancies, the designated representative of each Full Member will be entitled to cast one vote for each vacancy on the voting paper to be provided. Should the number of nominations received by Thursday 1 July 2021 not exceed the number of vacancies, a ballot will not be held and the vacancies will be filled by Council nominees.

If there is an election, the timetable will be:
Thursday 1 July 2021 Deadline for nominations
Thursday 15 July 2021 Voting opens (details of candidates and voting form circulated to Full Members)
Wednesday 18 August 2021 at 23:59 BST Voting closes
Wednesday 15 September 2021 Results of election declared at the ALPSP AGM

Notice of a change of representative of a Full Member eligible to vote on behalf of your organization must be received in writing to Lesley Ogg (lesley.ogg@alpsp.org) by Thursday 1 July 2021. Associate Members are not eligible to vote.

The closing date for nominations is 1 July 2021.
