ALPSP Council - Call for nominations

This year we have one vacancy as Deborah Dixon will complete her first three year term of office at the end of December 2020 and we thank her for all her work and support for ALPSP.  Please note that she is eligible for re-election for a second term.

Following a call for nominations, an election has been called.  Voting closes on Tuesday 11 August 2020 at 23:59 GMT and the results will be confirmed at the ALPSP AGM on 8 September.

Ordinary Members are Directors of ALPSP and therefore have legal responsibilities (https://www.gov.uk/running-a-limited-company/directors-responsibilities). The term of office is three years, plus an optional further three years by re-election.  Ordinary Members do NOT have to be based in the UK.

ALPSP Council is responsible for determining the policy of the Association and comprises

  • Ordinary Members (from Full Members, elected by Full Members)
  • Chairs of relevant ALPSP Committees (from either Full or Associate Members)
  • Co-opted members (from either Full or Associate Members)
  • The Editor-in-Chief of Learned Publishing

Procedure and timetable for elections

Should the number of nominations received exceed the number of vacancies, the designated representative of each Full Member will be entitled to cast one vote for the vacancy on the voting paper to be provided. Should the number of nominations received by Monday 1 July 2020 not exceed the number of vacancies, a ballot will not be held.

If there is an election, the timetable will be:

  • Wednesday 1 July 2020 Deadline for nominations
  • Wednesday 15 July 2020 Voting opens (details of candidates and voting form circulated to Full Members)
  • Tuesday 11 August 2020 at 23:59 GMT Voting closes
  • Tuesday 8 September 2020 Results of election declared at the ALPSP AGM
