NOTICE of election to fill two vacancies on the Council of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers from January 2011

Vacancies arising on Council from January 2011

The following changes to the Council of ALPSP are noted:

Ian Hopwood, BMJ Group is eligible for re-election from January 2011 having served his first term of office and has indicated his willingness to stand for re-election.

Richard Gedye, Oxford University Press will step down from Council at the end of 2010 since he will be leaving his post at Oxford University Press and will therefore no longer be employed by a Full Member organization.

Election procedure

There have been three nominations for the two vacancies on Council and so an election is being held with the nominated representatives of Full Members of ALPSP eligible to vote.  The candidates are Steve Byford, Society for Endocrinology; Ian Hopwood, BMJ Group; and Rhonda Oliver, RCN Publishing.

Details of the election process together with brief further details on each of the candidates can be found in document Elections to ALPSP Council 2011.  A Voting Form is provided and this should be returned no later than 5:00 pm GMT (6:00 pm BST) Wednesday 1 September 2010 by post, fax or email to:

The nominated representative of each Full member of ALPSP is entitled to vote and encouraged to do so.  Eligible members should vote for not more than two of the listed nominated candidates, and may allocate only one vote to each candidate selected.

The results of the election will be announced at our Annual General Meeting which will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday 9 September 2010 at The Robinson Executive Centre, Wyboston Lakes, Great North Road, Wyboston, Bedfordshire MK44 3AR, UK.  Results will also be advised in ALPSP Alert and on the ALPSP website (www.alpsp.org).
