Representation

ALPSP monitors national and international issues and represents the interests of members to the wider world. We are the only international trade association dedicated specifically to the community of nonprofit publishers (learned societies, university presses and others) and those who work with them. We work to ensure that the voice of the nonprofit sector is heard loud and clear by academics, librarians, funders and legislators; the more members we have, the more authoritatively we can speak and act on their behalf.

We carry out research and issue briefing documents and position statements on subjects of key concern. We are frequently asked to provide speakers at international conferences, journal articles, press interviews and briefings for financial analysts.

The Chief Executive and staff of ALPSP work with members on Council and specialist Council Sub-committees both to formulate policy positions, and to act as spokespersons on behalf of the industry.

We are involved in representation of the scholarly publishing sector on a wide range of key issues, both national and international.

ALPSP keeps a watching brief on all current matters relating to the business of scholarly publishing, and works with members to provide policy-makers and commentators with clear information on the likely impact of new policy initiatives.
